With our founding vineyards established in 1992, Mt Difficulty owns some of the oldest vineyards and is one of the most respected wineries in the Central Otago region of New Zealand's rugged South Island. Situated in Bannockburn, a unique and rare area of extremes, Mt Difficulty has harnessed the once brutal terrain to produce premium wines at the forefront of Central Otago's wine production.
There’s a lot of activity at Mt Difficulty Wines, with an extension to our Cellar Door building taking shape, and a new barrel hall being constructed at lightning speed to meet vintage deadline. The latter project is being completed by Naylor Love and will eventually have a grass roof.
With the extension to the Cellar Door our building contractors, Breens, are creating a new wine tasting room on the eastern side of the existing Cellar Door and Restaurant building, separate from the restaurant. We envisage that the additional space will enhance both the wine tasting and dining experience at Mt Difficulty Wines.
Some minor disruption may occur during the building phase, but we are committed to minimising the inconvenience to our customers. We apologise if we fall short of your expectations.
